Now that the bond for the high school has passed we can start thinking about working on the athletic facilities. Name one improvement you would like to see with athletic facilities
1. Visitors lockeroom at the stadium. Moving the visiting locker rooms out of the field house was a dumb move. It's a bad situation having the visiting team use locker rooms at the gym. I know the gym lockerooms are nice, but they need a spot at the stadium.

2. Maverick Stadium. Fix the stands and bleachers at Maverick Stadium. Add stadium chairs on the home side. At least for the reserved sections. The metal bleachers are falling apart and need to be replaced. And do something with the concrete. it's crumbling, it's dirty. Fix the concession stands. I saw someone suggest putting concessions in the end zone like Whitehouse and Jacksonville. That's a great idea. And fix the sideboard. The sideways signs are trash and the base of the board needs bricks or something. Fix the old fences around the stadium and the crappy ticket booths. The entry gates look like a prison gate instead of a stadium. Maybe some iron fences. And the maroon wall on the left side needs to be red.

3. Get rid of the restrooms and the concession stand at Maverick baseball field and put a grand stand directly behind home plate. Concessions and restrooms can be either behind the grandstands or behind the dugouts.
Everything MAVO said about Maverick Stadium is spot on plus a lot more that needs to be done. The entry gates are awful. The areas under the stands is terrible. Bleachers are tetnus waiting to happen. We need some lights installed on all 4 light poles that shines lights onto the fans. The field is lit up great, but it's dark in the stands. I love the idea of a visitors locker room and concessions being build behind the scoreboard. Maverick Stadium has the potential of being one of the top playoff venues in east texas. But we have got to invest in it. The place has had some great improvements, but there are some things about it that are just flat out embarrassing.

Maverick Stadium is a mess right now. I'm glad all the big wigs got their brand new pressbox with 5 star amenities. The rest of the stadium is crap. The concrete is coming apart, the bleachers are a tetnus infection away from a lawsuit. The concessions look like a livestock area. I think we have the same fence at the entrances from 1980. We have a half million dollar scoreboard propped up on old rusty trusses that the whole world can see. Football season starts in 3 months so we can't really expect any changes this season. They will be concentrated on the high school with the new bond. Guess that means we wait another 2-3 years before anything changes. The place is going to end up condemned like Carthage and Pine Tree did in their old stadiums.
