Since the bond is only for mhs, then why isn't any of it going to finish the work at Maverick Stadium? Seems like we started working on improvements, then just stopped. So much needs to be done. The concrete needs to be cleaned and replaced. The bleachers need to be replaced. The concessions are a mess. The ticket and gates are terrible. The fence is ragged. The big maroon wall on the east side. The scoreboard looks unfinished with all the exposed iron trusses. Makes no sense why they wouldn't include it in the bond. I really think this bond is going to pass easy. Should have made it count.

Man...... this horse has been beaten to DEATH....LMAO.
I think everyone knows Maverick Stadium's renovation is incomplete. I think everyone is aware that there's still lots of things that need to be addressed, fixed, replaced, etc etc etc at Maverick Stadium.
Students know it Fans know it The community knows it (even those who oppose spending $ on it) I'm sure the coaching staff knows it And no doubt the school board knows it
But we need to be smart about this.
The NUMBER ONE OBJECTIVE of MISD is to EDUCATE the students of Marshall.
This proposed bond is about the HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY. She's 43 years old. She's been taken well care of....but it's time for a facelift, upgrades, and updating for a new era.
As much as everyone wants to see the best done at Maverick Stadium.....at the end of the day..... renovating EVERY SINGLE CLASSROOM is more important. Renovating the library is more important. Updating the entire facility is more important than anything going on at Maverick Stadium.
History has shown.... bonds that include monies for athletic facilities become EXPONENTIALLY harder to pass than bonds that don't. (some) People have trouble with school districts using money on things like that.
So if education is priority #1.... then it was VERY WISE in my opinion that the bond NOT INCLUDE money for Maverick Stadium.
Look how many school districts have recently seen bonds fail because of money being used for athletic facilities: Pine Tree, Longview, Gilmer, White Oak, Nacogdoches...... and TBH... I think it had something to do with MISD's first bond failing in 2015. The second bond had nothing about athletics on it and it passed by an overwhelming majority. That's not a coincidence.
Let's get this bond passed. It seems to be supported by most...but people MUST GET OUT AND VOTE YES. Don't be complacent. I too believe this bond is very likely to pass. Hardly any opposition, but we can't take that for granted.
Pass this bond. Get MHS the renovations it needs.
AND THEN....... MISD...like they did with all the other improvements... can dip into the general fund and take care of business at Maverick Stadium without raising taxes for the bond NOR for the stadium work.
In the end....the school will be state of the art...and look brand new again.... and Maverick Stadium has the potential of being one of the premier stadiums of East Texas if we play our cards right.
Be patient.
I think we will all be happy with the final products of both. #fingerscrossed #marshallproud #maverickstrong

Nothing would kill a bond quicker than money for athletic purposes. The school board was wise to leave it off.
If there's any money left over from the contingency fund after the work is done, I'm willing to bet it would go towards Maverick Stadium along with some money from the general fund. We will probably finally see the finished product we're all hoping for in Maverick Stadium.
But getting the school taken care of first is the #1 priority.
And everyone keeps talking about Maverick Stadium, but there are other athletic needs at MHS. The Tennis area is in dire need of attention. And the need for a visitor's locker room at Maverick Stadium has got to be a priority. We cannot continue sendint teams across the street after games. The fiasco after the Carthage game showed that's not a safe situation.
And if the demand to get the swim team restarted is there, then we must consider that too. I think the pool at the boys and girls club being converted into an indoor facility for the school is a good idea is the city is going to refuse to keep it open.
