Why does everyone make such a big deal about us losing to Nac? It didn't end up meaning anything. Everyone has a bad game. Why does everyone in Whitehouse make such a big deal about beating Texas High? It didn't end up meaning anything. They still won district. Everyone has a bad game. And that loss Whitehouse had to Nac was HUGE. It cost them a home playoff game.

If they had beat Nac, even with the loss to Marshall they would have taken the #2 seed and hosted Crandall. I think Crandall would have beat them though. So the outcome was the same either way.

I can get Whitehouse being excited. They have one of the top quarterbacks in the state coming back. But he lost his 2 best receivers. And didn't they lose their RB too? And they have to be worred about their defense, which was a problem for them all season. Even against mediocre teams.
I don't really understand Hallsville talking big. They lost a guy that accounted for 80% of their offense. How do you replace a stud like that? It's impossible. And they had maybe the worst defense in all of 5A.
Pine Tree talking smack is NUTS. One good season in 30 years doesn't make you favorite for anything.

Whitehouse did lose top 2 receivers, but there are some good ones coming up. RB is back from last year. Just need defense to show up! If WH figures out their defense they will be very good! Losing those WR...especailly that one guy has got to hurt a little because he went and caught anything close to him. He was a stud. I have no doubt they have other guys that can catch...but he was special. And they lost their top 2 WR's...or 2 of their top 3. Still going to boil down to stopping Josh Green by land and by air if you want to beat them. But their defense....at least for the last few seasons has been their achilles heel. If that's not shored up...then I think THS remains the favorite with Marshall and WH battling for the #2 spot. If they figure out their defense....they could take the #1 slot. Should be a fun race.

Green is the best quarterback in the district followed by the dude from Texas High. But I think some folk are sleeping on Slone at QB for Marshall. This will be his third season to start and he actually has a group of receivers that will help him out more than he's had in the past. He's not mobile like QB's we've had in the past. But he has a cannon. He can struggle with accuracy at times, but he can launch it. He will get help from the OL and some WRs that will hustle to the ball this year. Considering how little we tried to throw last season, he still managed almost 1200 yards passing. And he had some flat out drops by WRs last year. The offense will be way more balanced this season than what we saw the last two seasons with Davis and Robinson running the ball. We will spread it out nicely, but we will still want to shove it down your throat. We have several backs that will mix it up instead of folk keying in on one person like they did last year. Teams dared us to run JQ exslusively and there were some games that almost worked. Our best games were when they tried to concentrate on shutting the running game down and we passed it....... they didn't think we could do it, and we did. We beat Whitehouse that way and we nearly beat Texas High that way.

I'm excited to see more of Alvarez's offense this season. He only partially opened the playbook last season to keep from overwhelming with the new system....and we still had an offense very few people stopped. In fact....only Longview and Carthage stopped us and one was a state semi-finalist and one was a state champion. So do that math.
I think we will see more formations this season, more mis-direction, and more diversity in the play-calling between the pass and the run.
I absolutely hate that there are some that think you need a 4 or 5 stat QB to have a good offense.
You don't. Most don't.
You just need a smart QB that doesn't make poor decisions and can be a strong game manager.
I think Slone has a very high football IQ. He was a really good game manager last season.
I really think the offense is going to be fun to watch this season.

Maybe they should put Green on defense too. That’s where he played sophomore year before moving to QB! Having a running QB can lead to injury, which can lead to the end of your season. How many times have we seen a team's season go down the tubes because their running QB got hurt?

We have more receivers than any one in the conference and it aint close. We won't even miss them. And Josh getting hurt is the only way we don't go 10 and 0. But the backup might be just as good. And we aint gonna need no defense cause we will be scoring 60 every week. But the defense will be much better. That a promise.

Aint no one going to be shocked we run the table BRAG BRAG BRAG WH might be 4-0 going into District play, because of who you schedule, but ain't no way you will go 10-0If you think y'all are so good, you should ask the AD to book a couple of good teams like Highland Park, Melissa, South Oak Cliff, or if you're afraid of the big Dallas teams why don't you try Gilmer. I doubt you could even stay on the field with the Buckeyes.

Texas High has no excuse for not winning the district championship this season. We have the most talent in the district by far. We have the best coaching staff by far. But that doesn't always mean things go the way you think they should.
Marshall should be a major concern for everyone. Seeing what Coach Alvarez did with their offense in just one season is scary. With a whole offseason the Marshall offense will be a level higher, meaning it's going to be harder to stop than it already was. It's really going to come down to their defense.
Whitehouse is going to be a one man show. They will go as far as Josh Green can take them. They lost their top two receivers and that really hurts his options to airing it out. If he tries to run it himself every play he will get easier to defend and a higher chance of being injured. And the Whitehouse defense hasn't been seen in 8-9 years.
Hallsville had the worst defense in the district last year and unless that improves, they will continue to struggle on that side of the ball. And with the Mosley kid at QB gone, I don't think they have any clue what their offense is going to look like. Hard to replace a guy that accounted for almost 4000 yards of offense last year.
Mount Pleasant has a stud at QB and if he and his WRs can pull it together, they could upset some folks and steal a playoff spot. They just need to figure out how to play some defense and stop with boneheaded penalties.
Pine Tree has got to be the most underachieving program in the district every season. I don't understand all the noise from their camp. Defense might be pretty good this season, but they have a QB issue, an OL issue, and a RB issue and a WR issue. Offense could be anemic this season.
Nac just seems like a dumpster fire. Last season was a train wreck. Numbers are down. Another new coach and another new system. I don't know how a community is suppose to build any excitement when it seems like they are starting over at ground zero every 2 years.

Keep thinking we are going to be a one man show. We will beat you by air or by ground. We will have the best receivers in the conference with the best qb in the conference with the best off line in the conference. And our defense will be the top in the district too.

Big talk in July is cheap!!! That Big juicy Thanksgiving Turkey you are predicting may turn out to be Crow come November. I've been following East Texas High School Football for over 60 years. I can count on the fingers of my right hand the number of teams that go 16-0 in any given year, and have plenty of fingers left over. 99.9% of all teams can be beaten every year. Opposing coaches just need to figure out how. Most years at least one of them will succeed against your team. If whitehouse goes 16-0 you should buy a lottery ticket every week because you are one lucky dude.

top 4 teams in my opinion Texas High, Marshall , Whitehouse and Pine Tree. 1-3 could is a toss up , I think PT will get that 4th spot this year.
Texas High brings back 13 but some of the younger guys are gonna have to step up . 2026 McGee 6’5 270 and Chisum 6’4 250 come to mind. Lone Star and Colleyville Heritage are picked to win their district again, you gotta think that’ll help when it comes to getting experience before district. I think it’ll come down to QB play for Texas High on offense. Defense will have a solid front 7 if they stay healthy. All 3 LB’s come back and Merriman DT returns, he finished the year with 5 sacks and 18 TFL.
Marshall brings back 9 but they have a 3 year starter at QB and will have some real size upfront on offense this year. Speed never seems to be a problem. I would bet they will find another RB to play off Gatson like they had last year. Texas High and Whitehouse both have to go play in Marshall so I think that helps them out.
Whitehouse brings back 16 and the QB has to be a favorite to win offensive mvp in district. They’ll be pretty solid.
Pine Tree brings back 17 . DE that has played all 4 years in varsity has been a player , I’m sure that’ll continue this year. They have a couple other players that will contribute on D as well. Idk about the offense tho I guess that’s what we gotta wait to see.
MP has a stud at QB but idk about anything else really . They bring back 12 and usually MP always has a least 1 receiver that’ll go get a ball. If they can make some spots on D they could win some games . Hallsville of last year comes to mind when I think about MP.
Hallsville lost the QB . He was a player . They bring back 11 starters and they have gotten better each year that coach Strickland has been there so I won’t say they are completely out of the playoff race but without the QB it’s hard to say.
Nacogdoches always has athletes but haven’t put it all together in a while. The number of players coming out to play football seem to hurt them yearly. Braxton Jones on defense will be a player to watch on D I think he got hurt for half the year this past season but as a sophomore he was a really good player .

If Whitehouse's defense doens't improve it won't matter how good their offense is.
