Maybe I'm underestimating Whitehouse, but I think we beat them again this year.

Maybe I'm underestimating Whitehouse, but I think we beat them again this year. I think the QB coming back has a lot to do with it. They bring back 8/8. They got beat by Lovejoy 38-34 in a back and forth game. In my opinion the district as whole has a chance to be better. I don’t think it was as bad as some make out tbh. 3/4 could have went either way. Marshall lost by a point, Texas High got beat in overtime ( I think some saw that coming with how the last few games were going) and Whitehouse got beat but had a lead in the 4th quarter . Hallsville and Melissa were tied at half. If I was to pick today Melissa is probably a lock to win the district that matches up in the 1st round, so a 4th place finish could be tough on any one of the 4, but I also think all 4 teams coming out of the ETX district will be better

I agree, this district has a chance to produce three really good teams. I believe Alverez gets his program going this year. I'm looking for the top 3 to be Whitehouse, Marshall and Texas High in not particular order. I think it's too close to call. Turnovers and injuries at the time each play each other will be huge. My gut says Jack might get it done this year (district championship), Marshall always has the athletes and he can get them in the right positions.

No talk here lately . We are right around the corner from the start of the season.
Marshall vs JT . New coach for Tyler so who knows what we’ll get. Rose stadium can be tough it’s it packed out tho. Having a 3 year starter for Marshall at QB could go a long ways imo. Mavs by 10 .
#7 in 5a D1 Lone Star travels to Texarkana . Grim should be rocking on Thursday the 24th. Last year at AT&T to start the season it came down to a 3 point came but that was before the starting QB got hurt. If Potter is on I think T High can win both RB’s have some big time offers. Give me the Tigers 31-24
Pine Tree at Van. Idk what to expect just yet from PT but they return a lot and the defense should keep them in games early on until the offense gets going. Van does have some good offensive lineman coming back so we’ll see. PT 28-21 is my guess.
Nacogdoches and Palestine meet up week 1 . Palestine has some talent but so does Nac. It’s a toss up and I hope Nac wins but I’m gonna go with Palestine 28-14, I hope I’m wrong.
Mount Pleasant and Pittsburgh meet up in a renewed rivalry game. Pitt has a good a coach good . Took Paul Pewitt to the state game with a solid run game before moving to Pittsburgh a couple years ago. MP should be able to score some points with the QB being back. I’ll take MP 31-24 .
Whitehouse meets up with North Forney who was 0-10 last year , whitehouse returning 16 with the QB being the star of the show. Give me whitehouse 35-14
Hallsville vs Terrell. Interesting game . Terrell plays in 5-7a, that district will meet up with the ETX district week one of the playoffs. Bobcats lost the do it all QB and Terrell brings back a good group who played into the 3rd round last year. I’ll have to go Terrell 35-14, again I hope I’m wrong.
ready for the season to get here. Should be a fun year

Who all had scrimmages last week and how did everyone look? Who does everyone have this week? Scrimmages from last week: 1. Whitehouse beat Paris 19-12: Sounds like the WH offense picked up where it left off in the passing game. Josh Green will be a stud at QB. 148 yards passing in the two live quarters with no interceptions. WH running game struggled the few times they tried with only 50 yards total. Wildcat defense gave up a couple of big plays, but basically had a sold game. They held Paris to less than 100 yards in their two live quarters. But Paris still managed 12 points. Sounds like WH had a pretty solid night. 2. Texarkana Pleasant Grove beat Mount Pleasant 21-0. The MP offense had some flashes of excitement...but they simply turned the ball over too many times to make things happen. The Tigers tossed 5 (possibly 6?) interceptions on the night. But the passing game looked strong at times. Running game didn't do much. But MP's defense struggled. As always seems to be the case for MP.... they lack depth. A small roster will be an issue for them once again in 2023. 3. Palestine stomped Hallsville. I can't seem to find a definitive score on this one. I was told it might have been 35-0 Wildcats....maybe 42-0. Hallsville offense was shut down most of the night as Palestine kept the Bobcats at bay. Meanwhile P-town scored early and often. Hallsville's defense struggled mightily last season...and it did again in the scrimmage. 4. Haven't found much information on how the Pine Tree Vs. Henderson scrimmage went. Soounds like the PT offensive line had some issues in the game. Pine Tree's QB had some good throws...he's a mobile guy, so that's always troublesome for defenses. Running game wasn't utilized much by the Pirates. Sounds like they will be pass-happy again this season. Defense will definitely be PT's mojo this season.

Tyler Lee at Marshall Longview at Texas High Hallsville at Chapel Hill Lindale at Whitehouse Greenville at Mt Pleasant Pine Tree at Gilmer Henderson at Nac Not an 8-5A scrimmage....but Tyler will be scrimmaging Terrell this week. This could be interesting because Terrell runs an offense very similar to Marshall's and Tyler is our first game next Friday. It will be interesting to see how Tyler competes Vs the Tigers.

How do they put Texas High ahead of Whitehouse when we beat them in their own stadium last year. We should be the top pick by everyone this year. No one can even come close to having as much offense as we will have. No one going to come close to that pitiful defense you have either. You just gave up 55 to a really bad team

We have more receivers than any one in the conference and it aint close. We won't even miss them. And Josh getting hurt is the only way we don't go 10 and 0. But the backup might be just as good. And we aint gonna need no defense cause we will be scoring 60 every week. But the defense will be much better. That a promise.Ummmm.

To say you won’t miss your receivers is dumb and what backup you have as good as Green? Whitehouse needs to lock in or they might be in for a surprise season. Aint no one going to be shocked we run the table 0-1

Seeing Whitehouse give up 55 isn't shocking. But giving up 55 to a team that was 0-10 last year has got to be concerning. Not to mention they managed only 33 points against a bad defense.

I'll take the win last night for the Tigers. We had some key guys out on defense. They will be OK. Offense is already on fire.

Mavericks seem underrated to for now. We are 0-2 because of who we have played. In week 1, Tyler was a close game. The Lobos were always going to win that matchup. I don't think beating a team like the Lions this Friday night, assuming we win, will add much to the level of respect for the Mavs. The matchup with Carthage next week will be more indicative of the Mavericks in 2023, win or lose.

Week 3 Scores Texas High beat Benton 62-14 Marshall beat Henderson 35-20 Kilgore beat Pine Tree 18-0 Nacogdoches beat Lumberton 34-20 Sulphur Springs beat Hallsville 35-21 Whitehouse beat Corsicana 45-8 Mount Pleasant Vs. Liberty Eylau (Cancelled with LE leading 12-7)
Standings Texas High 3-0 Mount Pleasant 2-0 Nacogdoches 2-1 Whitehouse 2-1 Marshall 1-2 Pine Tree 1-2 Hallsville 1-2
As expected.....Texas High made easy work of Benton, Louisiana to improve to 3-0 on the season. Mount Pleasant saw their game cancelled, keeping them unbeaten in spite of being down in their game. Nac took care of business against Lumberton and Whitehouse made quick work of Corsicana. Marshall's game was called in the 4th the Mavs driving as they lead 35-20. Pine Tree was shut out by Kilgore in a game that was completed Saturday. Hallsville fell to Sulphur Springs.
Week 4 Games Marshall Vs. Carthage Texas High Vs. Tyler Legacy Henderson Vs. Whitehouse Kilgore Vs. Hallsville Nacogdoches Vs. Chapel Hill Pine Tree Vs. Jacksonville Frisco Emerson Vs. Mount Pleasant
Some really tough games to close out non-district play. Marshall taking on defending state champion #1 Carthage. Nac taking on #2 state semi-finalist Chapel Hill. Hallsville is facing off against state ranked Kilgore. MP is taking on a 3-0 Emerson team.
Texas High and Pine Tree looked to be lined up for big wins.
Whitehouse has an interesting game Vs. Henderson, whom Hallsville and Marshall have both beaten.

Like WPFL said, Pine Stump don't even have the best defense in Longview, much less in the state. Same old Pine Tree they have been for the last 50 years. They just talk more than they should. Congrats to Marshall. Hope you guys turn your season around.

Texas High owning this district and Marshall is just bad this year. I knew they were going to be bad with that quarterback they have. Looks like they will be looking for another coach at the end of the year. Marshall is snakebit with coaches that won't stay and players that don't perform under pressure.
Whitehouse sucks balls

I hope you are wrong about the coach. I'm hoping we will see a late season surge. We got 2 weeks to get ready for Nac.
We are snakebit with things lately.

Sorry to say it Mavchamp, but I think he's gone after the season. He is going to retire. He just looks tired to me. He doesn't have the energy to fix us and his coordinators don't know how.

I hope Alvarez stays. I can't say the same for the OC. He calls some dumb plays in scoring position, We haven't had a decent QB since J.J. Green left. POLITICS at MISD always seems to get in our way. You can't win consistently in 5A div, if your don't have a QB who can throw accurately in the middle of the field, and run faster than an O-Lineman
