This page sure got a lot of Lobo haters, but you better just sit back and enjoy it. Anyone paying attention knows we are going to be one of the most elite programs in the state for the next several years. So much talent in the middle schools its just insane. We got more kids trying to get into uniform than we know what to do with. Longview is going to be a passing academy in the next few years with some major elite quarterback talent. Everyone already knows we are rb-u. We may have the most talented stable of running backs in the state from current seniors all the way down to the middle schools. All three MSs are loaded with talent. There's no reason Longview won't be winning district very season from now until 2028 or 2029. It won't even matter if we are 5A or 6A or 7A. We will be contenders for a state championship every season here on out for the next 6-7 seasons. Buckle up Lobo fans, we just think the last 20 years have been fun. The BEST is yet to come. As for the Lobo haters out there CRY MORE. Get ready to see us dominate like no other in East Texas.

Just because someone is special in middle school doesn't mean they will be a 5 star athlete in high school. There are so many variables you can't even begin to think about anything much further out than maybe 2 seasons. Players grow and some don't. Some peak and plateau and never get better. Some players lose interest and either stop football or move onto other sports. Sometimes they move to other schools or cities. Players get hurt. Who knows if coach King is even still in Longview in 4-5 years? The fact that you talk about middle schoolers and compare them to state championship teams makes you sound ridiculous. Longview might be the best team in East Texas for the next 5 years. They may win five state championships in a row. But they might struggle one or all of those seasons. You never know. The arrogance is palpable though.

Hard to bet against a train that has been rolling for about 20 years now.
I remember a Lobo fan back around 2005 saying the Lobos would be VERY good for the foreseeable future. I rolled my eyes a little....and thought "how can you even begin to know that?"
Well..... back to back state championships, semifinals, a state championship, another semifinal..... and lots of other long runs have proven they were right.
Longview has a perfect set-up that no one else in East Texas can replicate.
They have THREE middle schools funneling talent into ONE high school.
Everyone else is ONE middle school funneling talent in to ONE high school. OR.... Tyler...who has multiple middle schools...but the talent is split between TWO high schools.
IMHO......That 3:1 ratio Longview enjoys is the key to their talent at depth year after year after year after year.
Having a stable coaching staff is another.
Love them or hate them..... the Lobos have a system that's proven to work.....NO...it's proven to excel.

As for the Lobo haters out there CRY MORE. Get ready to see us dominate like no other in East Texas. Love the enthusiasm, or is it curb your enthusiasm? There are several other Lobo guys out there I know who have been around quite awhile that I like to read their scouting opinions because they are at least realistic about the vaunted Lobo football program. I've been around quite a long time too, and I'm telling you that MS talent evaluation is a 50/50 split at best, just too many variables to weigh there. Now, I can say there are some kids, in a few rare instances that you know a kid in MS just has that top side ability to be great in HS, that's if they do all the right things to get there. The only Lufkin guys I ever saw play in MS, and knew they had the possible ability to be great in HS were Reggie McNeal (who played WR in MS), Jorvorski Lane (played LB and RB in MS) and Dez Bryant (played WR and DB in MS). There were a couple other defensive or offensive players too, but those three come to mind. Never saw many others that I just KNEW they were a sure thing for HS and that's the reality. Although many more do develop into DI talent after they get to HS, you don't fully see that in MS. Also, to look 20 years down the road is just non-sensical, your talking about kids who haven't been born yet. I have NO DOUBT the next 4 or 5 years of Lobo football will be highly competitive and right there with the best in the State, in whatever classification they play. I will certainly give you that, no disagreement here. Just remember Aledo, Denton Ryan, Highland Park and all those Frisco teams could be out there is some form or classification too. Like I said, love the enthusiasm. I just do not get myself overly consumed in HS football so much, that I don't breath anything else. I was that way for while in years past, the true reality is no football program stays good, or on top forever, no matter how much a person desires it to be. Lufkin football fans certainly knows this all too well. I'm just at a place in my life where Lufkin winning, and making playoff runs every year are not as high on my list. Yes, I do get disappointed when they don't win or miss the playoffs, but it doesn't last long. You find out pretty quick as a fan your not in control of much as far as winning or losing, so ride that winning wave as long as it last. Life circumstances taught me not wrap my life around such things, other stuff just becomes much more important. Family, Health, Survival and above all Faith. All of us will eventually have something happen in our life that will make HS Sports small and insignificant for a time, and in some cases be of no importance at all. I've been there, and my life was readjusted suddenly and drastically (Melanoma cancer surgery 2008 and Prostate cancer radiation in 2022), still didn't miss a single game, and didn't care if they wore Green or Purple either. God's blessing of my recovery gave me a clearer picture of what was most important for me, it was no longer breathing HS football with every breath. My 2022 was one big trip of anxiety and decisions. All good for now, and I still love HS football, it's just my perspective on reality is about 360 degrees different now. There's no other way to put things. Keep up that enthusiasm for as long as possible, you never know when things may turn sideways.

Lobo fans expect to be in the state championship conversation every year. Even when they shouldn't be. It's just how things are. Until they actually experience some down years it will stay that way.

No one hates the Lobos. People hate arrogant Lobo fans. The two are not the same.
