Carthage enters the game (3-0) with a gritty win over a very good Kilgore team and cruising to wins over Pittsburg and Cornerstone Christian.
Marshall enters (1-2) with a gut-wrenching 5OT loss to Tyler (3-0) and a blowout loss to Longview (2-1). They recorded their first win Friday over Henderson.
Carthage has won three in a row since the series was resurrected in 2018. That game was a bar burner with the Bulldogs winning 35-32.
The last two games have been all Carthage in 2019 and 2022. Both games dominated by the Bulldogs.

This was suppose to be our next big rivalry.....but it hasn't materialized. The 2018 game was a barnburner But since then.... all Carthage. Reports are that Carthage is pretty banded up heading into this game. My thoughts: Carthage has a bench as deep as a 6A school..... injuries don't affect them like it does other teams. We shall see. I'm a total homer..... so I'll take Marshall in a close one. But history says....... MARSHALL Vs. CARTHAGE GAMEDAY PAGE

Homers always pick their team even when the odds are stack against them but only at home. Going to Carthage as a -17 point underdog is like going to Longview for Lufkin, or just about anyone else. It's not a district game, so no worries until next week when they really count.
