I really hope this is a good game. Longview has owned Lufkin of late.......
And TBH....I'd hate to see the Longview/Lufkin rivalry go the same way of Longview/Marshall and Longview/Tyler Legacy (Lee) and Longview/Tyler (JT).
Those rivalries have all gone sour because of total domination by Longview.
This one could do the same....UNLESS.... the Panthers get the upset. Or at least keep it close.
That being said.... I don't see it happening. Not this season.
I think Longview wins easily. Another blowout for the Lobos

Nothing to talk about here. Longview is the big favorite. Not sure we should even show up except for a courtesy call. We fully understand the rivalry aspect, and know the road record for teams traveling to play in Lobo land. However you never know these days. For the record, Longview was tested by 6A McKinney and lost, and as in true Lobo fashion, maybe should have lost by more if McKinney's two best RB were still in the game in the 2nd half. Then again McKinney couldn't pass the ball for a bowl of beans that game either. Lobos have done what they should have to Marshall and Legacy. Lufkin's test with Legacy and Nacogdoches were not been much better, I think A&M Consolidated is pretty good team, they had opportunities to win if the ball had fell right a couple times, and maybe had a couple of their guys keep their mouths shut and fist to themselves. Lufkin D had something to do with things too in the 2nd half. I think Lufkin has a lot to improve on offensively. Much of that is not because of player talent, it's the more the coaching philosophy on the offensive side of the ball. I can't say more. The defense is outstanding, they can't bear the load alone all season. Kedren Young is a phenomenal RB, again he and others need help to do their roles well. I have my own personal opinion about the game, and it's a good one. However, guess the gurus of Texas HS Football DCTF and Pigskin Prep think differently. They say the #2 team in 5A DI will defeated the #40 team at home by +34 this Friday night. Hey they know best you know. So Lufkin is in a win - win situation no matter what, cause no one thinks they will do anything at all. A Longview win by any margin?, well they were suppose to win. Lufkin has nothing to lose here, if the Panthers can play Longview close at home, or maybe win. Then they will drill a hole in the Lobo mystic for teams playing Longview the rest of the season. Stanger things have happen in a rivalry like this.
