Snapshot numbers will be released this month. Cutoff numbers will be released in November.
Changes are likely coming.
For Football......
Longview is likely headed back to 6A Pine Tree is likely headed to 4A Div I Jacksonville could be returning to 5A Div II....about 50/50 according to Matt Stepp. Lindale and Sulphur Springs could be coming back to 5A too....but they are longshots.
Lufkin is likely headed back south again in 5A Div I while Tyler will likely head West to the DFW to be with other 5A Div I schools.
What happens to Marshall, Texas High, Mount Pleasant, Hallsville, Whitehouse, and Nacogdoches? Nac could go south into a 5A Div II district perhaps wit Huntsville.
Marshall, Texas High, Hallsville, MP, Whitehouse, and Hallsville could be joined with Terrell and Greenville.
There's a possibility of Crandall, Ennis, and Corsicana coming this way too.
Predictions? Hopes?

Pine Tree will struggle more in that 4A district than they do now. Kilgore, Chapel Hill, Henderson. That's no easier than where we are now. but it will be nice getting away from Whitehouse because we all know why and Marshall and Texas High beacause they have both dominated us.

If Longview goes back to 6A, Tyler may move up too.
If Texas High goes to 5A-D1 So will NAC

So Longview will move up and Pine Tree will move down. Jacksonville will move up. What happens to our "other sports" district? Will they combine everyone in to one big district since there aren't enough to split into two or will they combine the north schools with dallas schools and send Lufkin and Nac down south?
Marshall Hallsville Texas High Mount Pleasant Whitehouse Tyler Jacksonville Lukfin Nacogdoches
That's a long way from Texarkana to Jacksonville for Tuesday night games.
Pine Tree down 4A Longview up to 6A

I'm going to miss our rivalry with Pine Tree. It had the potential of being our new Longview. They should do well in 4A. Gaining Jacksonville is an easy win for most people in the district unless they can turn it around. But they have been just as bad or worse in 4A as they ever were in 5A.

I agree. I'm going to miss Pine Tree. I bet we pick them up for non-district. I'll be happy to go to Jacksonville again. One of the best stadiums in east texas.

I welcome dropping down to 4A. I think we can become an annual playoff team instead of once every 3-4 years. We will have a great rivalry with Kilgore and Henderson and other schools nearby.

I'm not sure Pine Tree's future 4A district is going to be any easier to get into the playoffs than the current one. Although PT seems to be on an upward trajectory. I'm just not sure they are ready to compete against Kilgore, Lindale, and Chapel Hill. I wish PT the best though.
I would love to see Texas High move back up to Division I....but it's not happening.

Pine Tree down 4A Longview up to 6A It's not out of the question that we go down to one 5A district.......but that drive from Texarkana to Lufkin and Texarkana to Jacksonville is BRUTAL. Same with Mount Pleasant. I wouldn't be shcoked if Hallsville, MP, THS, and Marshall end up with some East metroplex schools and Lufkin, Nac, WH, Tyler all go south. Going to be interesting.

I haven't been able to get snapshot numbers for Pinetree, but I suspect our current district remains largely in tact. Pine tree may move down to 4A D1 and Jacksonville back to 5A D2. Lindale is staying in 4A D1. As far as travel time goes for Texarkana, It's basically the same no matter if they are going to Nacogdoches, Jacksonville, or Mesquite. They are always going to be on the outer edge of their district.

I think Lufkin goes south. Lufkin, Mt Pleasant, Texarkana in the same district makes no sense at all...

I could be wrong, but I think Texarkana and Lufkin were in the same district for several decades back in the day.

The old 8-4A east texas district in the 1950's - 1970's included:
Texarkana Marshall Longview John Tyler Tyler Lee (Legacy) Lufkin
Texarkana dropped out when Texarkana "Pleasant Grove" opened, and Texas High dropped back to 4A

District 8-4A changed to District 13-4A in 1968 and to 14-4A in 1970. and to 14-5A in 1979 Texarkana dropped out when Texarkana "Pleasant Grove" opened, and Texas High dropped back to 4A

Fun Fact:
Prior to the 1950's the Lobo - Maverick rivalry wasn't the big game of the season
The big game of the year for Marshall in the 1930's - 1940's was Texas High.
The old Texas & Pacific Railroad would put on a special train for the fans between the two cities. The fist fights would begin when the visitors train arrived at the depot then progress to the stadium then back to the depot. and ended when the visitors train departed for home. Wild Times!!!
