District 8-5A Scores and Schedules

What jump out at me most is how weak the non-district schedule is for most of the teams in our district.  As usual, Marshall always seems to have the toughest non-district schedule out of everyone.  We always do, and it's not even close.  Not when we've been playing the likes of Longview, Carthage, and 5A Div I schools like New Caney, Mckinney North and Shadow Creek.

Just look at who everyone is playing. 

Pine Tree has Jacksonville and Van.  Kilgore and Lindale are ok.  But all four games are against 4A teams.  And some of them are not very good 4A teams.

Hallsville is loaded with 4A teams too.  They have Terrell, who has been terrible for years.  Sulphur Springs hasn't had a winning season in 4-5 years.  Henderson is usually good, but not the last couple of years.  Kilgore is their only good team.

Mount Pleasant has Pittsburgh and Sulphur Springs.  It's Pitt 3A?  Sulphur Springs is blaah.   Emerson who?  Only Liberty Eylau is any good and I don't think they were any good either.  Again, all 4A teams.

Whitehouse has North Forney.  Didn't they win 3 games last year?  Jacksonville who is not good.  Corsicana didn't make the playoffs last season.  And Henderson.

Texas High has a pretty good schedule with Lone Star, Colleyville, and Tyler Lee.  Benton should be a soft win, but the other three make up for it.

Nacogdoches really stepped up their schedule.  Palestine is nothing to get excited about.  But Lufkin is there. Chapel Hill is a great matchup.  Don't know much about Lumberton, but they are usually pretty good.

Marshall killed it again with Longview and Carthage.  Tyler may not have been a world beater last year, but they made the playoffs in a tough district and John Tyler is much bigger than Marshall.  Henderson is the easy one.

It will be interesting to see how some of these teams open the season 4-0 or 3-1 and then fall flat in district while some may start 0-4 or 1-3 and really catch on fire when district starts.
