Why are our soccer teams so terrible? The boys are 1-6 and the girls are 0-7. The boys have been shut out in every district game except for the one game they won. The girls have been shut out in five district games. They were just as terrible last year too. What gives and does anyone care?

The programs that are flourishing have strong youth league roots.
Mount Pleasant has a MASSIVE youth league of probably over 1000 kids playing soccer. No one in ETX has anything like it.
Longview has a strong league too… tho to a lesser degree than MP. But the Lobos have had a stable coaching staff for a really really long time. That’s huge.
Nac has always been strong in soccer.
I agree we should be competing for a playoff spot…. But we’ve got to figure out how to keep a staff intact, grow the youth league, and actually get the best soccer players at MHS on the field. Many of them are skipping playing for MHS to just play on select teams. We need to make them WANT to play for the Mavs.

Boys have been shut out in 8 of their 9 games. Girls aint been much better. We got to do something. WTF.

We need to grow the youth league.....
Grow junior high soccer......
And find a staff that will stay here to build something
Same thing for baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, etc, etc

I want us to win at all or most sports but its not realistic to be good at all of them. We've never been a soccer power. I'd be more concerned with the baseball and softball programs. They both have been one of our best sports and they both have struggled lately. Same with boys basketball. Fix the things we have history with and then worrry about the side sports.

i promise you there is no money spent on the soccer program or the team. you want to save money, look elsewhere, because those kids aren't getting it.
