Week 7: Marshall (4-1) Vs. Texas High (6-0)

We better not come out flat like we did against Mt Pleasant.  We weren't blocking, not protecting, not catching, fumbling, making dumb penalties.  If we do that this week we will be down 4 touchdowns before we know what hit us.  Texas is another animal because they are loaded on both sides of the ball and they can match us speed for speed and will probably be bigger than us across both lines.  The running game will have to be humming and Alton will need a career night throwing the ball to get the upset.  It's not impossible, but we have to do better than we did last week.  We should have dropped 50 on Mt Pleasant.  No excuse for that game being as close as it was.  

Whoever wins this game will probably be the district champion.  Whoever loses still has a good chance of hosting a playoff game.  It's not a must win for either team.  But it sure would be nice to win the title again.  How long has it been since Marshall won a district championship?

2019 was the last time Marshall won the district championship.

Texas High has won the last four.

Guess it's time to win another one.

I'm concerned that their QB is going to slice and dice our secondary.  Longview did and they aren't even a passing team.  Tyler Lee lit us up too.  Texas High is better than Longview and Tyler Lee in my opinion.  We have to figure out how to stop it.  Not to mention they have three really good running backs too.  It's a lot to cover.  Something will have to give.

I think it's gonna have to be how you attack any potent QB. You have to make them uncomfortable in the pocket. We have the ability to do that with our defense, but of course they have elite playmakers all over the field and we have struggled with our pass defense. We have to get good pressure while contsining the run which isnt going to be easy. If we can get some momentum and and take advantage of our opportunities we have a chance. Look at Vanderbilt, LOL.

Am I the only one that thinks the video stream is terrible?  They need a new camera.  The stream pixilates and is poor quality.  It's not 1080.  The graphics are janky and there's no instant replay.  Henderson, Pine Tree, Whitehouse, Longview, and THigh can figure it out why can't kmht?  The radio guys are awesome but the video needs a major upgrade. 

The MAXPREPS rankings are just a mathematic algorithm.  Computer generated (but not AI) lists based on previous stats alone.  

They do not account for motivation, emotion, or heart.  

Take them with a mountain of salt !!!

We will need to wrap up on defense and make tough open field tackles. They love those quick play action slants and wr screens. Some are rpo based, which I've always thought defenses could exploit with good disguises and bait & switch.

May be the game to get your best 11 on the field with the 2 way players. At least part time. Open up the offense and make their lbs move side to side early, so they can't consistently come downhill to close gaps without hesitation. Quick motion can make a defense do this even on run plays. We definitely need to run often to win, but showing these things early can help loosen things up on the inside.
