I always thought Griedl did a great job bringing in some top coaches for his football staff, but also for the other sports too. But now that he's gone to Bastrop, he's undoing everything he did here by talking the staff with him. Taking your football staff makes sense to me, but girls baketball, volleyball, and baseball too? You're dismantling what you were bragging about building when you left. Just seems dirty to me. I hope I'm wrong.

You're dismantling what you were bragging about building when you left. Just seems dirty to me. I hope I'm wrong. Coach G has taken much of his football staff with him....but that's not uncommon. Most incoming coaches have their own people... We've seen Coach Alvarex bring several from Cuero. We have kept several from the previous staff though. More than usual...actually. However.... Coach G has NOT taken much outside of football to Bastrop. The Volleyball coach took a job in the metroplex. Baseball did not go to Bastrop either. Coach Dunaway hasn't announced his next step yet. Only the girls basketball coach has has gone to Bastrop that I'm aware of. Coach G put together a great staff....including non-football sports. We've lost a few....but the hiring process is very different now. Instead of rebuilding from the ground up.... they can get coaches that are walking into winning programs (Volleyball, Girls Basketball). Baseball struggled this season....but they were region semi-finalists just last year....with a ton of history. We should attract some top-notch applicants. |
