How did everyone feel after seeing the team Saturday? I thought we are way ahead of where we were this time last year. We were struggling with our offensive identity last year. We didn't know who we were. We were unsettled at quarterback with a Sophomore. Offensive line was a hot mess. We really had no idea who we were offensively in our first two football games against New Caney and Longview. In spite of those struggles, we still had a chance to win that New Caney game. We never threatened to beat Longview, but at least we kept it close. I'm sure Longview fans would still call last year's game noncompetitive in spite of the score. We finally figured out who we were when we settled at QB and we went on to win 8 of our next 9 games.
I know we have a new offensive system this year, but considering the dark hole we were in at the start of the season last year, I think we're ahead of the game. We know what we're trying to do. We aren't experimenting. We know we have the all-district MVP returning at RB. I think the offensive line will be more consistent this year. QB is more confident. I think we got a chance to be OK.
We may not beat Tyler, but I think we could keep it closer than most think. We might could shock everyone and get the win.
Longview is Longview. I lose no sleep in how that games goes. I hope it's a good one. But in the grand scheme of things it don't mean anything.
Carthage and Henderson should both be winnable.
Headed into district play 2-2 or possible 3-1 could be huge. I think it could happen. But if we good off we could be 1-3.
