Marshall and Henderson will both be looking to bounce back in week 3 after big losses in week 2. The Mavericks were totally and completely dominated by Longview in every phase of the game, losing 48-11. Meanwhile Henderson is coming off of a 49-28 loss to Hallsville (2-0). --------------- This will be the first meeting between Marshall and Henderson since 2007 when they were district rivals. Marshall leads the overall series (17-5-1). CHECK OUT THE GAME DAY TAB ON THE MAVERICK PAGE: MAVERICK GAMEDAY

The Mavs should bounce back just fine this week. I’m sure they will improve over time in areas that we are lacking against good teams. Go Mavs!

The Mavericks should win this one easily. We need to fine tune some things.
The secondary has me worried. We’re giving up some big plays on the pass. Hallsville and Whitehouse will be kicking their chops.
We have fumbled kickoffs in both games so far and they both turned into touchdowns for the other team. Another kickoff it could have gone out of Bounds and we pinned ourself deep.
WRs are dropping some perfect passes.
QB is also making some very unwise decisions in heavy coverage.
We’re going to get better. But we have a lot of stuff to clean up.

We should win this game by 3-4 scores or more. The only reason I’m OK with this match up is that it’s sandwiched between Longview and Carthage.
Not taking anything away from the Tyler game… we completely dominated them. But them losing. Triple OT game to Lee last week makes our win a little less impressive. Tyler may start the season 0-4 or worse. And Lee ain’t much better.

No excuses for this game to be close.

This SHOULD be a comfortable win by the Mavericks.
But we must NOT overlook the Lions.
We had some positives Vs. Longview.... but we definitely got exposed in some other areas.
This is a perfect match-up sandwiched between Longview and Carthage.

I had a feeling longview was going to keep the domination going, but I did expect it to stay competitive longer than did. but we made two critical mistakes early in that game that put the score at 17-3 before we could blink. Turnovers will kill your chances to win. Hopefully we are learning that early on. Our kickoff team has had several major mistakes in both games.
We need to clean all that up this week. We need to balance our offense. I know running is our bread and butter, but we can't be successful without a passing game. The QB has a strong arm. Just got to work on accuracy. He seems to shine on short passes; less on the passes downfield. Receivers have got to stop dropping passes.
This is the week to get the kinks out. Next week is going to be killer.

Marshall 48 Henderson 14
No reason for this not to be a blowout.
