If anything good came out of the Hallsville game was that we CAN pass the ball. We aren’t as one dimensional as we have been so many times.
I hope the coaching staff explores this fully.
Having JQ and Byrd is great. But having a passing game come alive will make us hard to stop offensively.
Our defense has been a disappointment this season. It was suppose to be our strength. But I think Longview, Carthage, and Hallsville have proven that we aren’t special. Especially against the pass. We can’t figure out screen passes.
Have to be happy with where we are headed offensively. Defense hopefully will figure it out.

I hope we can shake off that Hallsville game. Losing like that is really hard to take. We absolutely should have won that game.
Our play calling was questionable in some of the situations we were in.
Third and 6 or so… and we go deep for an incomplete pass. We haven’t had success throwing down field all season. Our passing success has been short passes. We did several long passes that resulted in punts.
Our play calling when we were inside our own 5 was total trash.
We have to do better. We ARE better.
Defense was a mess. Don’t even know where to start. Couldn’t stop those screen passes. Couldn’t stop the QB keeper. They only had 3-4 plays they ran over and over.
Whitehouse is a passing team. Gotta make you nervous.
Mount Pleasant is a passing team. So we better take it seriously. .
We should win big this week. But with our crap play calling and our lack of defense will probably make it closer than it should be.

If this isn't a blowout we're in trouble the rest of the way. Whitehouse's passing game should have all Mav fans on pins and needles looking forward. And that's not even discussing Texas High, who always torches us. We are staring at a possible (5-5) season and (3-3) in district. That's probably good enough to make the playoffs, but we should be aiming higher than that. There's no reason we shouldn't finish at least (6-4). If Hallsville stumbles we could still maybe sneak in at second. But we blew our chance last week. Mount Pleasant likes to sling it too, but they aren't as explosive as Hallsville. We still can't overlook them. Our offense should have a field day this week as long as the OC doesn't crawl back in to a box like he did in the first half last week. I agree with what everyone else has said, Slone looked good last week. The passing game coming to life makes us a much better team.

Marshall wins big. Passing game will start solidifying itself, but JQ and Bird will keep the game out of reach.
As difficult as last Friday was to watch slip away, every one should be thrilled to see the passing game coming along. It's a game changer.
Defense will be better. Hallsville's offense is the best in the district. Even better than Texas High's in my opinion.
Win this week and hopefully steal one in Texarkana.

GAMEDAY PAGE: MOUNT PLEASANT Vs. MARSHALL GAMEDAYeverything is all updated and ready. JQ Davis will likely cross the 1000 yard mark this week. Bird Robinson inching closer and closer too. Can't even remember the last time Marshall had TWO 1,000 yard rsushers. QB Slone has cross the 500 yard mark....had a big game Vs. hallsville. Confidence is growing. Guy is really coming around. We right the ship this week and head into Texarkana with some steam.

Can't come out flat this week like we did last week. Mount Pleasant throws the ball even more than Hallsville does. I think our offense will keep the Tigers on the sidelines. We should be able to grind out a big win.

We will beat the teams that are down this year. The great programs like Longview and Carthage(Evangel) should definitely beat us seeing how we are learning a new system. However, we have too much Sr talent to be losing to Hallsville. They are good offensively but our play calling in 1st half diminished any talent advantage we had.
Defensively our secondary and lbs arent able to shed their blocks as quickly as last year. Not as physical overall. I think that's why the quick passes and screens have worked so well against us this year. Hopefully we keep improving in all areas and finish the season on a strong note. Upsetting Thigh would instantly redeem our chances of a top 2 finish.
