Sure would be nice if Mount Pleasant was to upset Whitehouse this week. Or Pine Tree to beat Hallsville.
I don't think either are likely, but wouldn't it form a three way tie for second place?

If Whitehouse loses to Mt. P this week they would be (2-2) just like Marshall. If Hallsville loses to PT they would be 2-3, which would drop them to fourth place. Like you said, I don't think either one of those happen this week. Both of their defenses are terrible, but MP and PT are worse.

We almost had one of the upsets we needed Friday night....but PT choked it away.
Hallsville scored the tying TD with 4 seconds left in the game.
Bobcats won it in OT when PT missed a PAT 45-44.
A Hallsville loss would have been HUGE in our playoff seeding....but Hallsville is living a charmed life right now. 2 district games they have won in the final min.
Whitehouse is rolling...... they have a showdown with Texas High this week.
------------
Marshall needs to take care of business this week. Win and clinch that playoff spot. Then we can worry about Whitehouse and maybe getting that home playoff game.

I've had this conversation with Mavchamp. Our district is terrible. From top to bottom.
When Texas High is state ranked and struggles to beat a Nac team that is 1-7, that's all you need to know.
Hallsville is the luckiest team in the district. They should have lost to Marshall and Pine Tree. Their defense is horrible. They aint going nowhere with that defense.
Whitehouse needed the refs to save their tail Friday night. Mount Pleasant got shafted by those refs big time. WH was given first downs by penalty all night long.
Marshall has shaky pass defense and an offense that hasn't found its identity yet. WH passing game may torch us in the last game.
Pine Tree, Mount Pleasant, and Nac are all pretty bad.
No one in the district plays defense.
A whole lot of bad football being played in our district. We may get swept in the playoffs except for whoever gets the #1 seed cause the #4 from the other district will probably have a losing record.

We better not be overlooking this team.
They already beat Whitehouse and they nearly upset Texarkana last week. I think both of them are 7-1. So they aren't scared of a 4-4 team. They don't have anything to play for. No playoffs. They are just playing for pride, which makes them dangerous. We better be ready or we could find ourselves with another unplanned loss.

I think the Mavs are going to close out with wins over Nac and Whitehouse and head into the playoffs with some steam.

I think the Mavs are going to close out with wins over Nac and Whitehouse and head into the playoffs with some steam. Beating Whitehouse would somewhat make up for that debacle in Hallsville. No excuse for losing that game. It will probably cost us a home playoff game.

No excuse for Marshall not to win this game by multiple scores.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but if Nac wins this week and y’all lose to whitehouse next week does Nac get in ? I don't think so..... because PT and MP both have the tiebreaker over Nac. Even if Nac wins this week...I don't think they can get in. If Nac beats Marshall ...they would finish district (2-4). The winner of the MP/PT game will improve to (2-3) this week. If PT beats MP....PT then closes with Texas High.....but even if they lose...they end tied with Nac at (2-4) and ahead of Nac because of the head to head. If MP beats PT....MP then closes with Hallsville.....even if they lose...they too would be (2-4) and ahead of Nac because of head to head With all three potentially finishing (2-4)..... Nac is eliminated because they lost to both of them. It would come down to head to head between MP and PT. I think that's all correct.

Thank you mavchamp for clearing it up. The paper was talking about a chance but I was saying there’s no possible way even with a Nac win.

If Marshall loses to Nac and Whitehouse
PT/MtP winner 2-4 Marshall 2-4 Nac 2-4
Assuming neither Mt P nor PT ends the season with an upset win.
3 way tie for final playoff spot. So Nac would need a convincing win to cover point spread.

If Marshall beats Nac we clinch a playoff spot.
There's several scenarios that could determine if we finish 3rd or 4th. Beating Whitehouse and Whitehouse losing to Thigh is the easiest way to clinch 3rd.
If we win out and Hallsville loses final game we clinch 2nd and a home playoff game.
If we win out and Whitehouse beats Thigh there's a 3 way tie for 2nd. Then points determine 2nd through 4th. So we would need a convincing win over Whitehouse to get a better seed. Unless of course Hallsville gets upset the final week like I mentioned above. Then just a 1 point win would get us the 2 spot.
Hope that helps clear things up...I think

I'm not sure the tie breaker rules on points spread, but there is usually a 21 point win margin max. If that's the case, in the event of a 3 way tie for 4th between Marshall, Nac and MtP/PT winner:
Nac enters tonight (-21) after getting blown out by both Mt P and PT.
MtP/PT winner would be even-(0) after getting blown out by Marshall and blowing out Nac
Marshall enters tonight at (+21) from beating both Mt P and PT by alot.
That would mean Nac needs to beat Marshall by at least 21 points tonight to have a chance to get in. In the event of a record, head to head, and a points differential tie, it usually goes to coin flip I believe.
