The Mavericks will be hosting a playoff game!!! Marshall's upset win over Whitehouse clinched a home playoff game for the Mavs. Crandall is coming to town. The Pirates have been impressive this season at (8-2) with their only losses to Melissa and Lovejoy, the #1 and #2 seeds from their district. GAMEDAY PAGE: CRANDALL Vs. Tough draw for the Mavs for a first round playoff.
But we have got to use the same game plan than we used against Whitehouse. KEEP THEIR OFFENSE ON THE SIDELINES.
Long and sustained drives that end in touchdowns. The defense needs to get a couple of stops. Maybe some turnovers.
I'm sure we will be considered underdogs in this game, but this is a winnable game for Marshall. We just got to take care of our business.

If Crandall had played LONGVIEW and CARTHAGE, I'll Bet that their record would be 6-4 too! If the Mavs had not played LONGVIEW and CARTHAGE, and given Hallsville the last 2 1/2 minutes of the game, they could easily be 9-1 Coach Alvarez has a better handle on what the team can do now, and the players have more confidence in themselves and the coaches now! I have confidence in Coach Alvarez. I think he is a playoff wizard! I say Mavs win....maybe, not like we beat Whitehouse, but...... now that I think about it,.....Maybe just like we beat Whitehouse!!!! GO MAVS !!!!!

I agree that Crandall is a VERY good team. They score a lot of points, but it looks like they give up a lot of points too.
Outside of Melissa and Lovejoy they really haven't played anyone. Not like we have with Longview, Carthage, Texas High, and Whitehouse. I think any of them could beat them.
We need to play keep away and make their offense sit on the bench most of the game. They can't score if they don't have the ball.
No turnovers Long drives Score touchdowns
That's the formula for success for Marshall.
If we win Friday who would we likely see in the second round?

I think that is What Rodney Southern said, when he was in Marshall, just before the 2004 State Simi-finals (Marshall V Boerne) "They can't score if they don't have the ball..."
Mavs Won that game!!! ( 21-3 )

We would probably face Midlothian Heritage in the 2nd round because Dallas Kimball is nobody this year

Mavs sure have overcome a lot this season. No matter what happens in this game, we're building to big things in the years to come.
Varsity roster is small, disciplinary actions, tough losses, big wins. This team doesn't give up.
Crandall is the 5th best team we'll play this year behind Longview, Carthage, Texarkana, and Whitehouse.
I think we got a chance to shock some folks in this round. Doesn't seem like most people are giving us a chance.
Mavs win a close one!

Looks like there are 5 teams in the top 10 just from this region. That's just crazy

Region II might have the most teams in the top 10, but they also have the lowest in the top 10. South Oak Cliff is the defending champ. I don't think they are nearly as strong as they were last season. But they are still verrrryyyyy good.

I'm still in shock how we handled business against Whitehouse. This is a game Alvarez has been talking about, "winning a game you're not suppose to win". That was it. And it was with an explanation point!!! Now it's a matter of getting hot. Looks like most of the experts are picking Crandall even though we are the home team. Sounds like another game we can label "one we're not suppose to win". Prove them all wrong! I'll be coming to town for this game. Hope the weather is good.
