I'm not sure why we moved the visitor's locker room across the street to the main school, but it was a terrible idea.
There are major security issues with having a team walk through a crowd to and from the stadium pregame and after halftime.
MISD either needs to add on to the athletic center to include a new visitor's lockeroom or another facility needs to be built somewhere else. Maybe behind the scoreboard or behind the visitor's side.
After the Carthage incident we need to take action. Having students assaulted by visiting teams is unacceptable.
I finally made it to every stadium in our district and with the exception of Nacogdoches and maybe Texarkana, we have the worst stadium in the district. Nac is just terrible all the way around. Texarkana has nice concessions and restrooms, but the parking and the stands are pitiful.
But look at Pine Tree, Mount Pleasant, Hallsville. They all have brightly lit stands, bleachers are in great shape, concessions and restrooms are nice. Ticket areas and gates are all nice.
Out ticketbooths look like closets. The gates look like prison fences. Concessions are embarrassing. Concrete stands are dirty and the bleachers are tetnus waiting to happen with all the rust and broken areas.
The field is well lit, but the stands are dark. I don't know why they didn't put three light poles up like we use to have.
So much potential for Maverick Stadium to be a top playoff venue. But we settle for the lowest quality we can get away with when it comes to fixing things and improvements. Lowest bidder always wins.
The concessions area in the endzone like in Whitehouse and Jacksonville is a great idea. Behind the scoreboard.
And our scoreboard is a disaster. Exposed poles. Sideways ads. Just terrible.
