I think we should move the band and Mavettes back to the home side. Fans are too spread out right now. Putting the band and drill team back on the homeside will mean a sell out on the homeside almost every single game instead of just sellouts in big games. Having a packed out home side is intimidating to a visiting team. We need a wall of red and wall of sound on the home side. Overflow home general admission can go to the visitors side like they do in Longview. But a packed out home side needs to happen every game.

Everytime we play Longview, Hallsville, Carthage would make tickets really really hard to get on the homeside.

It's the same thing they do in Longview. Why have any empty seats on the home side if you don't have to. Let those that wait sit on the visitor's side. Just seems like a packed out home side makes for a huge homefield advantage.

I have mixed feelings about this.
I do like the idea of the homeside being packed out even for the "smaller games" like Nac, Mount Pleasant when the crowds are smaller.
But I also like it packed out (without the band) for the big games like Longview, Carthage, Hallsville, Texas High when the crowds are bigger
I wouldn't be upset if they moved the band and drill team back to the homeside...but one of my biggest complaints about Longview is their general admission on the visitor's side. But I understand why they do it.
A sold out homeside almost every game does seem sweet though.

I don’t like this idea. It’s my problem with the Carthage home side too. When the band is on the home side you can’t hear it and same with the drill team you can’t see them if you don’t sit right next to that section. You can’t blame it on me being old and hard of hearing because I’m in my early twenties.

Carthage came really close to selling out the homeside Friday night. They filled up sections B, C, and D.
Sections A and E were less than half full.
A packed out homeside at Maverick Stadium is pretty awesome looking. I sat on the PG side and and that packed side was LOOOOUUUD!
Might be something to it.

Please don't move them back to the home side!!!
I know the home side may not sell out when it's rainy and cold...but NO ONE sells out those games. Not Longview, not Lufkin, NO ONE.
And sure we may not sell out the home side against Mount Pleasant and Nacogdoches.... but in big games like Texas High, Hallsville, Whitehouse, and Pine Tree when they are good will almost always be packed out. Not to mention when we play Longview and Carthage.
It short-changes home fans in big games.

No....the current section that the Maverick band and drill team uses on the visitor's side would become MAVERICK GENERAL admission like they do in Longview. That way the homeside is sold out almost every single game. If we need those extra seats then we open up that section to MAVERICK FANS. Win-win situation in my opinion.

Visiting fans to Lobo Stadium universally hate having Longview fans sitting right next to them too.
Some of the antics by GA fans in Longview is begging for trouble. I know fans from John Tyler, Lufkin, and Tyler Lee have had issues with Lobo fans sitting on top of them.
I guess there's no drama with Marshall fans because we just sit there and take our beating.
But it could be a dangerous situation. I think it would be smart to not create that same issue at Maverick Stadium.

Want to know how to sell out the homeside every home game?
WIN MORE GAMES.
Everyone loves a winner. If we want to start packing out every game we need to start beating Longview every now and then. Beat Carthage. Beat Texas High.
Blowout out Mount Pleasant and Pine Tree isn't going to create a lot of excitement. We're expected to blow those games out.
We need to start beating contenders like we use to do. Remember when we were beating Killeen Ellison when they were #1 in the state? Remember beating Dallas Carter when they were in the top 5? Remember beating Monroe Neville and Monroe Ouachita when they were state ranked? Odessa Permian?
Start doing that again and you won't be able to buy a ticket on the home OR the visitor's side. We would be packing out out side and buying every visitor's side ticket that didn't sell.

Marshall only had one road games this season that I thought the home team had a FANTASTIC crowd: Whitehouse. They came as close to selling out as you can get without selling out. Longview had a good crowd...but it was nowhere near a sellout. Lobo fans have even lamented all the unfilled seats on the homeside that are owned by season ticket holders that no-show more often than not. And I was SHOCKED at how small the Texas High crowd was. Most people thought that game was for the district championship. It was great weather.... ended up being a great game. But their homeside was maybe a little over half full. Hallsville wasn't anywhere near full. Pretty disappointing. I think Mav Nation does a great job of showing up......we were just cursed with some terrible weather at some of our home games this year. It was either wet or cold. That's a hard sell....esp for blowouts

Lots of schools keep their bands on the homeside: Hallsville, Pine Tree, Lufkin. I think it adds to the HOME crowd. Makes the home crowd look bigger and louder.
Seems like Marshall use to have the band on the homeside back in the day. But it's been a long time ago.
