I think 6-4 or 7-3 at best. I think our losses are to possibly Tyler and then Longview, Carthage and T High. T High might be close but Longview and Carthage will have us wondering why we are playing them again. We’re going to be young & filling lots of holes. I have faith in Alvarez to whip them into shape but we were loaded with talent this year and finished 6-4 before the playoffs. He

He this is going to be a tuff season for the Mavs. They only have 9 returning juniors and only 4 we're starters,4 sophomores and 1 freshman it's going to be an up hill battle this season. 5-5 is my prediction maybe 4-6 |

We will definitely be young.
But we have some key pieces returning.... and some talent moving up from a JV team that had more success than any Marshall JV has had in the last 20 seasons.
We will have to solid running backs in the backfield. And a senior QB that proves last year he's a good game manager....
OL will have some faces back, but also some holes to fill
Defense is really the biggest question mark.... and this is where Alvarez and his staff will show their worth IMHO.
I still think we're a season away from being a deep playoff contender..... but I think we'll hold our own in 2023.

We did not have a passing game last year and will be even weaker there this year. No returning receivers! The only bright spot on the offense is Gaston and there going to use him up next year! There isn't two rbs he's the only one with varsity experience. Slone will be running for his life most of the time because we have no online!! Not sure if you guys really know the team or are y'all just optimistic. No returning starters on the d line we lost Bracey. He was really developing into a great D lineman! Like I said 5-5 is being optimistic but it may turn out worse than that! |

Part of being a coach is to develop players. Some of those starters last season weren't very good. Our offensive line got whipped almost every game, even when they were the bigger line. These coaches know how to teach and they have a whole year with these players now. Last season they were just a couple of months into things. They will find players to step up and teach them their way of doing things. I think the upcoming players are actually better than the ones we're losing. Gatson will be a huge part of the offense, but the freshman running back will likely be on varsity too and he might be just as good if not better than Gatson. And you can complain about the passing game, but we still managed over 1000 yards in passing and rarely had any interceptions. The defense will be better because these players will have been in the system a year already. These coaches will build these players to be better than they were last season. You sound like your bitter about something and possibly have an axe to grind.

6-4 or 7-3. Alvarez is the best coach Marshall has had since Rodney Southern.
We could be 8-2 or 9-1 if we'd get rid of Longview and Carthage.

If the current staff can't pull together a winner annually with the talent pool we have, they aren't worth the money they get paid. This is the best staff we've had since the state title runs in the 2000's. I have confidence that they will put a strong team on the field this season. They will be young, but these kids will be Alvarez's kids.

They will be young, but these kids will be Alvarez's kids. I agree!! Now I hope that coach Alvarez can put it all together. I just don't think it will be next season maybe 2 years from now. This team is in rebuilding mode. We have a few pieces of the puzzle missing. Our biggest concern this year will be defense and offensive line. We had the fewest points scored on us in the district last season but people were still complaining about the defense. This season it will really be a problem that I hope we figure out fast! |

Nac is looking for another coach. Sounds like they might be rebuilding.
Hallsville lost their stud quarterback. He was everything to them
Pine Tree loses their best players to Longview
mp is hardly every any good
whitehouse will probably be pretty tough on offense.
Texas high has the most talent in the district
Who do we lost to this season? Texas High maybe. Whitehouse? Those are the only ones I think can challenge us.
We have better talent and better coaching than everyone else.
I think this staff is going to put together a good team this year. These guys can build talent. They don't have to have it fall in their lap like others have.

I know you had faith but I really do know the talent that is coming up for marshall and it is going to be tough for a little while unless they can get some transfers in... |

Want a cookie? There's no way anyone predicted Mount Pleasant was going to be as good as they are. Texarkana and Whitehouse were expected to be good, but not Mount Pleasant.
